Saturday, October 3rd
Grades 4-12

Workshop: Did you know that Annie is based on a cartoon from the 1920’s and 30’s called Little Orphan Annie?  It’s a hard knock life for Annie, growing up during World War II and the Great Depression.  Always spunky and independent, Annie, accompanied by her faithful dog Sandy, solves crimes and gets out of tricky situations using good sense and gumption. She even steps in to help Daddy Warbucks get out of tight spots.  Experience 1930’s NYC, reenacting iconic scenes from the Little Orphan Annie comic strip!

Saturday, January 9th
Grades 5-12

Workshop: The Irish word céili originally referred to a gathering of neighbors in a house for an enjoyable time of dancing, playing music and storytelling. Some of the popular dances used for these occasions are named after historical battles and events, others after items of daily rural life. Favorites include the “Siege of Ennis”, “The Walls of Limerick”, “The Stack of Barley” and “Haymakers Jig.” Kick up your heels at our very own céili as we learn the basics of Irish dance with our very own fiddle player!

Saturday, April 2nd
Grades 8-12

Workshop: 42nd Street has long been known for its dance numbers, starting with its 1933 film adaptation choreographed by Busby Berkeley. Berkeley made cinematic history during the Great Depression turning hundreds of dancers into complex human kaleidoscopes, using rhythmic precision and symmetrical design to create ever-shifting mosaics and fanciful geometric patterns.  What does it take to synchronize your movements with others to create visual illusions for an audience?  Find out and join in our giant human kaleidoscope (to be filmed using an overhead drone and GoPro)!
